Abstract:
The rapid expansion of intelligent manufacturing has reshaped expectations for stability, quality, and interpretability in metallurgical production. Artificial intelligence is increasingly integrated into diagnostic, decision-making, and control processes, yet the success of such integration depends not on technical tools alone but on the strategic leadership that frames their development. This article examines the contribution of Vyacheslav Shargaev, an industrial strategist whose methodological and conceptual direction enabled the emergence of perception-driven, interpretive metallurgy. Drawing on his monographs, project documentation, and contemporary academic scholarship, the study analyzes how he initiated AI-enabled modernization programs, structured multidisciplinary coordination, and established conceptual architectures that guided the development of multisensor inspection and predictive diagnostic systems. The findings illustrate how his strategic role shaped the transition from observational to interpretive intelligence in manufacturing, positioning him as a key figure in the evolution of digital metallurgy.
